ACHIEVEMENTS
In 2000 the VTC set up some production units in all departments. Poultry, Garment making and Carpentry became viable projects. In 2001, a group of 5 women from the VTC formed their own Garment Construction outlet on the growth point which is still operational. Carpentry production unit is still operational and is situated at the VTC. The production unit is realising a profit of about $20 million per month. A group of 4 youths has opened a furniture shop at Gokwe Youth Projects and the project is doing well. In 2003 the VTC started offering long courses examined by HEXCO and the Industrial Training Department. The duration of the course depends on the course, but generally it is from one year - three years. Certification also changed from Certificate of Attendance to National Certificates and skilled worker status, NFC, NC and classes4- 1. During the holidays, the VTC runs short course programmes. Evening and weekend classes are also available. In 2003 the VTC established a Library where students can do their research. 8 women were trained in Carpentry in 2004 and they are running a successful coffin manufacturing project in Kezi- Bulawayo. In 2005 the VTC opened a guest Lodge and a restaurant.
